Realizations...

Yesterday, celebrated the birth of one of my oldest friends. We grew up together, braved adolescence, pulled each other through break ups, had our flare ups, and yet still we are friends. Distance and time has only been a shadow in the eras we have seen.
I still have to remind myself that my horizon is closer than it was when I was 13, and closer still than when I was 20, yet.. I still rise each day with the silly dreams I had back when my friend and I were chasing butterflies and fishing.
Not wishing to let those days fade away, I seem to have held on longer to the idea that youth is a state of mind, not a number. My friends today are younger, and accept me into their click with ease. When the friend from my youth and I were younger, it was unheard of to have someone of age associate with us. Today though the youth seems to be more mature than we were, or more accepting.
Either way, it seems humor helps to blend in. And being mindful that there are times when the years of experience will set us apart.
So as this new adventure unveils itself, and I count all the blessings I have, the old and the new. I am deeply grateful for the ones that are here and have seen me through.
Saying this, I must not be remiss in wishing my Sister from another mother a very Happy Birthday! To you Cyn!! May your days in the future be as fun as what we had when we were growing up.

Life or something like it...

Life or something like it...

This is the point I seem to be at in my life. For years I have been stagnant; helping others before myself. Now it is time to find me again, and this little blog is going to be a guidepost of my journey. To mark the changes made, the discovery of who I was, and the process of creating and hopefully improving the new me.

Any support or suggestions will be most welcome.

     Some background on me:

  1.    I have relocated to a highly urban area from the relative quiet of the countryside.
  2.    I am renting whereas before I owned.
  3.    I am returning to college at an advanced age.
  4.    I have started a new job.
  5.    I am divorced.
  6.    I have raised my children.
  7.    I have a penchant for adopting more to my family.
  8.    I seek to learn more of the world around me.. a curious George as it were.
  9.    I am going to strive to reconnect with talents I have and to develop them.
  10.    I love to experience new adventures and cultures.

Meeting new people and making friends is what life is about. My hope as I move along this yet undiscovered pathway I can do just that as I learn more and develop into a greater person. Thank you for taking the walk with me.

Lets begin shall we.....
